I want to formally announce my new handmade shop, Field Study!

Embracing the change, and rocking it.

I've grown a lot since I first began selling on Etsy, and even before that when I began discovering my love of sewing. My style has changed and my dreams have evolved. Gone are the days of Chandelier Jenny's novelty pouches. This past year I have challenged myself to think and work outside of the box I created for myself and I'm continuing to do so. The pride I feel for my new designs is invigorating. Finally, I'm making bags that I adore and love to carry. I hope you are able to see the passion I've put into them. 

What you'll find and what to expect:

I currently have tote bags, cosmetic bags, and small pouches in stock. I'm working on cross body shoulder bags and plan to have those available within the next week, so keep a look out!

april goals

Most of my goals for April are business related, but I have a few personal goals for this month as well. I'm a list-maker and love writing goals down in my planner. It keeps me focused and on track.

Here are 3 of my personal goals for April:

1. Finish 2 books. - I'm currently reading Platform, by Michael Hyatt. Just reading through the introduction I was repeatedly saying "YES" and making all kinds of notes. I'm so excited about working through this book. If you're interested in marketing, I recommend it.

2. Create 4 hand-lettered pieces. I can't recommend this hand-lettering class enough. If you're looking for a new creative outlet, this is one that is fun and easy to start — and doesn't require spending a lot of money on materials.

3. Maintain a clean house. We are putting our house on the market this month. We finished several renovation projects: new flooring throughout, a total kitchen remodel, and we cleaned the heck out of it. We decluttered and organized (by way of boxing several things up and putting in storage). Now it's a matter of just maintaining it while it's being shown. I'm not a great housekeeper, but right now I need to be. Hopefully it doesn't take long to sell!

just start – new online space (+ a free wallpaper)

Welcome to our new online space! This has been in the making for several months and, quite frankly, it took much longer than I initially thought. Rebranding is weird and challenging.  I still don't feel quite ready; it's not perfect, but sometimes you have to just start. After all, if you wait for perfect conditions, you'll never get anything done. 

I often struggle with having so many ideas, but never actually making them happen. I'm going to try to work on that this year and beyond. Less overanalyzing, more doing. Less dwelling on dreams, more making plans and taking action. 

I am currently taking Mary Kate McDevitt's hand-lettering class on Skillshare. While warming up I sketched this and I really like it. So, I finished it and turned it into a simple desktop wallpaper.

I'm also working on a new handmade shop under the same name, Field Study. My style and skills have matured a lot over the past 2 years and I needed a name that represented the changes. Also, I'm bringing in a full-fledged business partner, sort of. ;) My husband, Tyson. He always has been my partner, but now it's official. He helps me out in many ways, and eventually he wants to contribute his own handmade goods to our brand. This was just another reason I felt rebranding was the way to go. I'm planning to launch the shop soon, but I don't have an exact date yet. I will, of course, let you know when we do.
